Manila Mayor Isko Moreno wants renewable energy in Manila public schools

On Tuesday, 9th of July, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno discussed his plans for pushing the use of renewable energy in the city’s public schools.

His environmental plan of using solar panels and rainwater collectors for Manila’s schools was discussed during a meeting with members of the Manila City School Board at the Manila City Hall.

With the issues surrounding the level of our dams in the country, the mayor pushed for the project, citing their critical water levels.

“Nowadays, we’re having challenges with our water in our dams. While it is true na mayroon naman tayong pag-ulan, we are still in below comfortable water level in our dams,” said in a press briefing by Moreno.

Also adding, “Having said that, I am now encouraging the board to come up with environmental projects, programs to harness renewable energies.”

According to Mayor Isko Moreno, this initiative will best show children how to give importance and stewardship to the environment.

“If they are seeing these types of facilities, and it can be done since it’s not even rocket science, they will know how to care for the environment,” he told reporters after the board meeting.

“When they would be given the opportunity in the future, they will do the same kapag malalaki na sila,” he added.
