DPWH installs rain water collection facility in Isabela schools

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) installed 16 Rain Water Collection System (RWCS) at different public schools in Isabela province. This project aims to encourage water conservation and reuse among Filipino communities.

DPWH Isabela Third District Engineer Editha Barbaran said a total of P2.994 million was allocated for the installation of the rainwater collection units, which had been distributed to various elementary and secondary high schools in Alicia, Angadanan, San Mateo, and Cauayan City.

How RWCS works

According to Babaran, RWCS units will be connected to the roof gutter system of the school buildings through pipes. The schools then can collect water and use this for facilities that need water supply such as washrooms, toilets, and garden hose.

The twelve schools in Cauayan City that received one RCWS each include: Cauayan South Central School, Linglingay Elementary School, Casalatan Elementary School, San Isidro Elementary School, Buyon Elementary School, San Antonio Elementary School, Dianao Elementary School, Cassap Fuera Elementary School, Sinippil Elementary School, San Pablo Elementary School, Villa Concepcion High School (Annex – Rogus), and San Antonio High School.

One RWCS was also installed in Salinungan National High School in the Municipality of San Mateo; Dagupan Elementary School in the Municipality of Alicia; La Suerte Elementary School and Victory Elementary School in the Municipality of Angadanan; and at the DPWH – ITDEO Office.
