Sports facilities for Clark SEA Games 2019 on track

Excited for the 30th Southeast Asian Games in 2019? You should be, as the construction of sports facilities in New Clark City (NCC) is on track to be completed in time for the tournament.

The Philippines will be hosting the 30th SEA Games with a 20,000 seating capacity Athletic Stadium, a 2,000 seating capacity Aquatics Center, and an Athlete’s Village.

Arrey Perez, the Deputy Director for Athletes’ Village of the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC), said that the Athletes’ Village will have a total of 525 units, 95 of which are specifically designed for Persons with Disabilities.

The complex will also have a gym, library, conference rooms on each floor; a kitchen and dining area; swimming pool; basketball court; and deck gardens.

During the inspection of the facilities on Sunday, July 8, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President and Chief Executive Officer Vivencio B. Dizon announced that a nine-kilometer, four-lane SCTEX-McArthur Highway Access Road was also being constructed.

The road is expected to be completed by September 2019, and it aims to reduce travel time from SCTEX to NCC from 40-60 minutes to 10 minutes.

Another road construction project that will be started soon is the 15-kilometer, six-lane NCC-Clark Freeport Zone Access Road, which will pass through the picturesque Sacobia area. David said that its completion will make NCC only a 15-minute trip from the New Passenger Terminal of Clark International Airport.

David also added that the NCC-Clark Freeport Zone Access Road will be connected to the Philippine National Railways Clark line.
