Hello, Love, Goodbye: An OFW’s Love Story

Oo, isa na namang Pinoy Drama-Romance set far away from home. How does it differ from the others? Context – and the depth of it. Let’s break down why I recommend you to watch Hello, Love, Goodbye.

Hong Kong’s Heroes

There are thousands of Domestic Helpers working in HK struggling to make ends meet. The character may be a representation of their life, but they did not glorify that storyline. Remember, love story ‘to. This is just one out of thousands of stories – an OFW sacrificing her dreams for the benefit of her family’s future, and in that struggle, nakahanap siya ng love. #SanaAll. It’s commendable that the realities of our Kababayans in Hong Kong was a strong plot and also relevant to the twist.

Quotable Quotes

I felt like the movie was built to be quotable. The main characters, played by Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, had a common drive to their story: to prove a point. Just like the actors, Bernardo proving to be a strong actress without her usual leading man and Richards proving to be a star in a largely-produced film.

Unlikely Love Team

Sa totoo lang, I didn’t find any chemistry between Bernardo and Richards in the trailer – and even in the first parts of the movie. Well, they proved me wrong in the end.

As Joy and Ethan, two individuals with opposite personalities and dreams, reflected to how different Bernardo and Richards are to each other but seamlessly worked great together. Walang sapawan – they portrayed well both individually and as a love team.

As for the casting, Maymay Entrata could have done better but the rest was superb. Maricel Laxa was incredible and Lovely Abella was a surprising comic relief. Great casting!

Compared to other OFW love stories like Milan and Barcelona: A Love Untold, Hello, Love, Goodbye had a different motivation and a very unique ending. It’s a must-watch!

4 out of 5 stars.
