Filipinos to have health insurance soon

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) brings good news to every citizen of the Philippines, as they assured health insurance will be provided for all Filipinos once the Universal Health Care (UHC) bill is signed into law.

Acting PhilHealth president Dr. Roy Ferrer said in a statement that over 100 million Filipinos are currently covered by PhilHealth, and the remaining six million of the population will soon be provided health insurance.

“Non-members are assured that, under the UHC act, every Filipino will be treated by any PhilHealth accredited hospital,” Ferrer added.

Under the UHC, all Filipinos will be automatically included in the National Health Insurance Program and will be granted immediate eligibility to claim the benefits when needed.

The Senate and the House of Representatives recently ratified the measure, which was sent to Malacanang afterwards.
