Team PH Goes Vroom Vroom at TMAC 2024

Heads up, racing fans! Team Philippines recently concluded their tenure at the TMAC 2024, which was held in South Korea. Let’s speed through what happened!

What is TMAC?

TMAC stands for the “Tamiya Mini 4WD Asia Challenge.” It is a yearly competition that brings enthusiasts from all across Asia to race their customized Tamiya Mini 4WD cars. The event includes time trials, knockout rounds, and finals, with categories for different age groups and skill levels.

To prepare for the competition, participants usually modify their cars through upgrading motors and enhancing aerodynamics. This way, they test both their engineering skills and their racing prowess.

Why have the race?

TMAC 2024 promotes the Mini 4WD hobby across Asia, fostering a dedicated fanbase and sharing innovations within the community. Every time the finals roll around, each qualified country selects top racers to represent their nation. So, it has become a highly anticipated event in the Mini 4WD world.

This year’s race was held on July 5-7 at Paradise City Plaza Square, South Korea. Participants from several countries competed, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Where is Team Philippines?

For Team Philippines, sports league Neybors, in partnership with The BrickYard Makati, flew in 12 racers for both the race’s Open Category and xStock Category.

But before any race, one needs to practice! On July 5, Team Philippines participated in a Warm-Up Race Night in Hongdae, with Rany Garbo Jr. winning 3rd Place.

The weekend that followed was the big event. Both the Team Open Class and Advanced Class Races happened the next day, while the Open Class Race happened on July 7.

Team Philippines gave it their all on these brackets. However, after the Open Class Race, they were edged out by players from South Korea and Thailand.
