Taxes made easy: DBP and BIR launch online payment portal

No more excuses. The Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) have introduced an online tax payment portal prepared to receive payments.

“It is available 24/7 or virtually non-stop, so there’s no reason why taxes cannot be paid especially to the system,” DBP Chairman Alberto Romulo said.

The portal is accessible at www.DBPpaytax.com and accepts Philippine-issued credit and ATM cards.

A one-time password (OTP) is required for security purposes. It will be sent to a mobile number.

The portal takes front and center in BIR’s effort to increase tax collection revenue, which already missed its annual target by 6% as of October 2017.

“This will positively impact our fiscal performance and increase our government’s budgetary room to finance our development projects,” Department of Finance Undersecretary Antonette Tionko said.
