The completed Phase III of the project involves improvement of the Napindan Channel to Downstream of Manggahan Floodway and parts of the Delpan Bridge to Napindan Channel.

“The completion of Phase III decreased flood inundation by 18% as well as reduced flood damages by Php 14.3 billion. It also reduced the number affected population by 0.2 million,” added by Secretary Villar.

Phase IV of the project is already in the works. Once the improvements to the downstream of Mangahan Floodway to Marikina Bridge and the construction of the Marikina Control Gate Structure were done, flood inundation will be decreased by 7.5%.

“This channel improvement project will also help create a more dynamic economy in the metro by providing a flood-free urban center and rehabilitated drainage system, thus resulting to a sanitized and improved living condition for people residing around the area” Villar said.
