Modern Parañaque Terminal to Open Next Month

The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) is the country’s first landport, has a capacity of 200,000 passengers a day, and will start full commercial operations next month.

The 35-year Build-Transfer-Operate concession is one of the flagship projects of the Philippine government. Its main goal is to ease traffic congestion in inner Metro Manila. Megawide, an engineering and infrastructure conglomerate, was awarded the project in 2015.

Louie Ferrer, President of Megawide subsidiary MWM Terminals, Inc., said the preparations for the opening are in “full swing.”

“We will be on soft opening this October with full operations scheduled this November. We are working closely with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and affiliated agencies such as the LTFRB to ensure that we are ready,” Ferrer said.

Improved transport system awaits passengers

Passengers from Cavite and Batangas going to Metro Manila and vice versa are the ones who will benefit from PITX. The terminal allows transfers between different types of land transportation such as jeepneys, buses, taxis, and other PUVs.

The terminal building is made with three levels. The ground floor has the departure bays for jeepneys, buses, and taxes. Meanwhile, the second floor has the arrival bays. Private car parking facilities and AUV bays can be found on the third floor, which will also have a future connection to the LRT-1 extension project.

The terminal systems are guaranteed to be passenger-friendly. It features an assured seating system for buses, public information displays in various locations within the complex, and sufficient seating in the whole facility.

Automated boarding pass scanners will also be utilized to ensure that passengers can board buses only during chosen trip schedules.
