Parañaque Integrated Bus Terminal to launch in late August

The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) is set to launch by the end of August as its construction is nearing completion, according to a Department of Transportation (DOTr) official.

DOTr Assistant Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure Mark de Leon said that there will be a “soft launch by the last week of August.”

The terminal facility aims to reduce the number of buses coming from the neighboring provinces south of Metro Manila. Furthermore, it is expected to ease the flow of traffic along the areas of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA), Baclaran, and Taft Avenue.

According to DOTr, the PITX is now 96 percent complete; its online ticketing and booking system and radio frequency identification (RFID) tagging system are still to be concluded.

Poised to be the first intermodal transport in the country, the PITX is estimated to accommodate up to 200,000 train, bus, and jeepney passengers per day. Moreover, the terminal will connect passengers traveling from the side of Cavite to other transport systems serving inner Metro Manila, including LRT Line 1 South Extension, taxi, city bus, and other public utility vehicles.

The PITX will feature passenger terminal buildings, ticketing and baggage handling facilities, loading and unloading bays, staging bays, and park-ride facilities. Free Wi-Fi, charging outlets, and an online ticketing system will also available to commuters.
