Emperador – The First and Only Filipino Company to be listed in Spain!

Filipino-owned firm Emperador strengthens and diversifies its portfolio with no less than top-notch property developments in Spain.

Emperador Properties, a Filipino-owned real estate investment company, is making a mark in Spain. As a matter of fact, it is the first and only Filipino company to be listed on the Spanish stock exchange!

Conquering Spain

While Emperador is widely-known here in the Philippines as a top-notch liquor company, unbeknownst to many of us, they have been collecting global milestones. Coincidentally, they have also been proudly carrying the same name.

The company, unrelated to Tan’s Emperador Inc. became a REIT known as “SOCIMI” in Spain in September 2021. It will officially list in Spain’s BME Growth Stock Exchange on December 19, 2022.

Currently, the company has three wholly owned, top-notch development assets. These are the 57-story Torre Emperador Castellana, the 35-story Torre Caleido Shopping Center in Madrid, and the 23-story Torre Diagonal One in Barcelona.

Out of these properties, two are listed as REIT assets of Emperador Properties, establishing a milestone that is pride-worthy of all Filipino-owned businesses.

“To be listed in the Spanish Stock Exchange is, for any company, an important milestone. We are looking forward to seeing how Emperador Properties evolves in this new stage. Our commitments to our employees, tenants, and partners remain as present as always in our day-to-day life,” says Joan Cortés Vilardell, CEO of Emperador Properties.

This listing at the Spanish Stock Exchange now gives Emperador Properties a larger platform to achieve a more efficient financing mechanism. One is to increase its capacity of capturing more real estate resources to finance its future growth.

Additionally, the company aims to provide a liquidity mechanism for shareholders. This also facilitates a new system for objective valuation of shares, increasing both the company’s visibility and transparency compared to third parties.
