DepEd, PHLPost honor educators with ‘Salamat Po Teacher’

The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) are encouraging students in all public and private schools to show their gratitude to their teachers by writing ‘thank you’ letters.

The letter writing program, dubbed as “Salamat Po Teacher”, was launched by the DepEd and PHLPost in celebration of the 2018 National Teacher’s Month (NTM). It started on September 5 and will culminate on October 5 to coincide with the World Teacher’s Day (WTD).

“Salamat Po Teacher” aims to “effectively promote the value of gratitude to teachers and the important role they play in the lives of the students and society.”

Raffle for a cause

Elementary, junior, and senior high school students are invited to write and mail their letters of gratitude, which will give them the chance to win in a raffle contest. Winners will also be chosen to compete in the letter writing competition for local and international levels.

Those who are interested to participate will have to write a ‘thank you’ letter to their teachers. Their letters must be sealed in an envelope where the sender’s and addressee’s complete details are clearly written and visible.

The ‘thank you’ letters must also be mailed via Post Office through the Ordinary Mail Service. Student participants will then be given a raffle stub to be filled out and dropped in designated boxes located at various post offices. Raffle entries will be accepted from September to December 2018.
