Cacao in the Philippines

There is no denying the fact that we Filipinos have a sweet tooth. We cap off our meals by having dessert or panghimagas, which helps balance anything savory we ate as the main dish.

Cacao has been in the history of the Philippines for over 300 years. While it is believed that we are the first country in Asia to grow cacao, it is only now that Philippine chocolate is taking the world by storm.

Representing the PH Cacao Industry

The three PH Chocolate brands took home a total of 19 awards from the competition. With categories ranging from Tree-to-Bar variants, to drinking chocolate.

Philippine cacao is truly a diverse kind! And it is well represented by our competing brands.

Auro Chocolate, whose cacao is from Mindanao, received a total of 13 awards from the competition.

Chocolate plays an invaluable role in Philippine culture and agriculture. Looking back at decades of undervalued importance of Philippine cacao, and comparing it to its current status, the industry is nearing its major breakthrough. We’re so excited!

The future of cacao looks flavorful, and we can’t wait to taste those bittersweet notes of victory! Congratulations, Auro, Malagos, and 1919!
