Marawi medical center due to expand

Marawi City received a significant boost as the national government vowed to expand the capacity of the Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC). The plan marks an important development for the city to get back to its feet after the armed conflict in the locality.

The health facility will be converted to accommodate a 400-bed capacity from its current capacity of 200. The move comes after President Rodrigo Duterte approved into law Republic Act 11103, which was authored by Lanao del Sur (1st District) Rep. Ansaruddin Alonto Adiong.

New hope for Marawi residents

APMC is the largest government health facility serving the residents of Marawi City and Lanao del Sur. Under RA 11103, the Department of Health in ARMM (DOH-ARMM) will oversee the expansion project that is set to begin in the first quarter of 2019.

ARMM Governor Mujiv Hataman commended Adiong for pushing for the expansion and rehabilitation of the biggest hospital in the region.

APMC was the center of armed hostilities last year when terrorists laid siege to the city, which lasted five months killing thousands including soldiers and terrorists.
