Iligan to Revive National Steel Corporation

The first-ever integrated steel mill to be built in Southeast Asia is looking to make a comeback.

Acting City Mayor, Vice-Mayor (Msgr.) Jemar L. Vera Cruz announced during the 68th Adlaw sa Iligan on June 16 the “very near” revival of the National Steel Corporation (NSC).

“We are moving heaven and earth to open again the National Steel Corporation,” he said.

Vera Cruz also highlighted the enormous contributions of the members of the 16th council of Sangguniang Panlungsod and Mayor Celso G. Regencia who is now on his three-month suspension. He added that the technical working group for the NSC should focus on the welfare of the people.

The Acting City Mayor, before sharing the positive news about NSC, stressed how important it is for the Iliganons to become united in mind and in heart for a better Iligan.

“We need to unite, we can go nowhere if we are not united,” he said.

He also added that people who are in power should set aside their personal interests and prioritize public service.

As a conclusion to this message, Vera Cruz asked everyone “to be with us, dream with us, and work with us to achieve its dreams for the City of Iligan.”
