Filipina makes history in international jiu-jitsu circuit
SWEDEN – Meggie Ochoa makes history by becoming the first Filipino to dominate the international Jiu-jitsu circuit, and the first Asian to ever win the gold medal in the world championship.
28-year-old Ochoa garnered the top award at the 2018 Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Malmö, Sweden, last Sunday.
Solid gold
She emerged on top of the women’s seniors 49-kilogram division, besting Canada’s Ni Ni Vicky Hoang in the finals, garnering gold after a 2-0 win.
Ochoa emerged victorious in other competitions this year, bagging gold in the Jiu-Jitsu World Tour last March in London, and bronze in the Asian Games last August in Indonesia.
