Bacolod called Most Biz-friendly LGU

Bacolod City recently received a citation for being one of the most business-friendly local government units (LGUs) in the country. The award is expected to spur more opportunities for investment and employment in the capital city of Negros Occidental.

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) presented the award to city officials led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia during the 44th Philippine Business Conference at the Manila Hotel on Friday.

PCCI cited Bacolod City specifically for its active support to the national government road construction programs, which will further expand the urban development in the city and establish new growth centers.

Moreover, the business organization also recognized the city for creating programs for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which help sustain livelihood in Bacolod.

Numbers don’t lie

In an interview after the awarding rites, Leonardia said the special citation validates the many consistent efforts to make Bacolod a business-friendly city, especially since PCCI used facts and figures in determining the recipient of the award.

Leonardia also noted that the city saw a 20-percent growth in terms of business registration. He said that the local government has implemented policies that make it very easy for businesses to come in.

“Everything that we are doing is geared towards creating an environment that makes it conducive for business to grow,” Leonardia said.
