Backpacking Cebu: Where Else to Visit?

Cebu, ‘Queen City of the South,’ is the oldest city in the Philippines. Brimming with natural wonders, it offers endless choices for adventure. To help you make the most of your trip, here’s an exciting 5-day backpacking Cebu itinerary! 

Alegria 

To reach Alegria, take a Ceres Liner bus from Cebu South Bus Terminal heading towards Bato via Barili. Inform the driver that you need to get off at Alegria. This charming town is the starting point for all canyoneering activities. But Alegria offers more than just that. It’s home to several stunning waterfalls and has a rich cultural history. 

Spots: Cambais Falls, Montpellier Falls, Kanlaob River, Cancalanog Falls, Cambusay and Salay Caves, Alegria Heritage Park, Libo Hills, Mt. Lanaya

Moalboal 

The easiest way to get to Moalboal from Alegria is to take a cab. Moalboal is a beach town known for diving and snorkeling and is the star of backpacking Cebu. The crystal-clear waters and beautiful coral reefs, particularly around Pescador Island, are a major draw. Panagsama Beach, the town’s main strip, is lined with bars, restaurants, and budget-friendly accommodations. Inland, you can explore natural wonders like the stunning Kawasan Waterfall.

Spots: Panagsama Beach, famous for Moalboal Sardine Run, Pescador Island, Lambug Beach, Moalboal’s White Beach, Moalboal House Reef, Ronda Marine Sanctuary, Tuble Marine Sanctuary, Tongo Marine Sanctuary, and other dive sites around Moalboal.

Mactan

Head back to where the airport is. Mactan Island is known for its rich history. It’s also home to world-class hotels and luxury resorts that might eat into your savings! But go ahead and treat yourself, check in, visit Mactan Shrine, buy a guitar, and eat authentic Cebuano food. You know you deserve it.
