More than 5,000 Bulakenyos receive DOLE livelihood aid

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan — P93 million worth of livelihood assistance has been allotted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to assist 5,391 Bulakenyos.

The livelihood assistance is largely comprised of “Negokart” projects and business starter kits. Beneficiaries were low-income citizens belonging to nine resettlement sites in the municipalities of Pandi, Norzagaray, Bocaue, and Balagtas and City of San Jose del Monte.

According to DOLE Regional Director Ana Dione, beneficiaries of “Negokarts” and starter kits all underwent entrepreneurship development training. This was to ensure they weren’t empty-handed when it comes to managing their new businesses.

Funding for the program came from DOLE’s Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP).

69-year-old ambulant vendor Victoria Alejo thanked DOLE for the livelihood assistance, saying the fresh start will help her family a lot.

“It is God’s blessings that DOLE and the local government provided us some ‘Negokarts’ which we can use in our livelihood that could uplift our lives,” she said.
