5 Milestones That Prove BINI Is World-Class
Pinoy Pop is having its moment in the spotlight thanks to groups like SB19, ALAMAT, and in this case, BINI. The group, comprised of Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, and Sheena, have been killing it locally. But this time, we want to highlight their international prowess. So, here are 5 milestones that prove BINI is world-class:
1. Teen Vogue’s “Girl Groups to Watch in 2024” List
Back in May, American publication Teen Vogue published an article for their “Girl Group Week.” Their team curated 12 girl groups that people should look forward to, and BINI made it! Other groups that made the list include VCHA, FLO, and KISS OF LIFE.
2. Their “Voices of Asia” Award
BINI, along with SB19, were honored with the “Voices of Asia” award for the 2024 Billboard Korea K-Power 100 event. And they flew all the way to Seoul to receive it, thus making it their first time to go to Korea as a group.
They received the award through a nomination from Billboard Philippines, commending them on their “growing influence and for their contributions to the rise of P-pop on a global scale.”
3. The “Pantropiko” Dance Challenge
Even if you haven’t heard of BINI (which we find hard to believe), you’ve probably heard of their summer smash-hit, “Pantropiko.”
The song has garnered so much press from both the Philippines and internationally. Since its release in November of 2023, its performance video has already amassed over 76 million views! Not only that, several people have covered the certified bop!
From a 7-year-old dancing to it in their family reunion to celebrities like 2NE1’s Minzy and KATSEYE’s Sophia, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t danced to this song online. How’s that for BINI being world-class?
4. “Cherry on Top” Release
On July 11, the group came back with their first full-English song, “Cherry On Top.” And, let’s just say this cemented BINI as world-class artists.
Their music video has, so far, garnered over 31 million views. And several people have covered the dance on social media. Check out their dance challenge with fellow girl group KATSEYE!
5. Their KCON LA 2024 Performance
Nothing says world-class than performing at an international convention! BINI became the first Pinoy pop act to perform at the famed KCON LA music festival last July, singing “Cherry On Top” during its pre-show.
