Superal has sights on a third straight title

POISED TO REIGN ON THE GREEN. Princess Superal aims to win her third crown in the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour as the ICTSI Luisita Ladies Championship kicks off on Wednesday at Tarlac.

Superal shelved her plans to participate in her first Symetra Tour, which is scheduled this week in California, and opted to compete here with the goal of following up her back-to-back victories at Tagaytay and Riviera last month.

Former leg winner Saruttaya Ngam-usawan, along with six other Thai aces and a host of amateurs, also signed up on the P1.5-million event sponsored by ICTSI in keeping with a tradition in the country’s premier circuit.

As the perennial regional rivals of the Philippines, the Thai delegation — consisting of Jaruporn P. Na Ayuttaya, Thanuttra Boonraksasat, Numa Gulyanamitta, Supakchaya Pattaranakrueang, Sarinee Thitiratanakorn, and Ananya Vitayakonkomol — is set on blocking another win by the 21-year-old Superal who finished off the last two tournaments with a combined 21 strokes.

Superal will be contending with fellow local aces including recent Eagle Ridge leg winner Chihiro Ikeda and former three-time Order of Merit winner and Symetra Tour campaigner Cyna Rodriguez.

Meanwhile, the amateur cast is made up of The Country Club mainstays Laia Barro, Sofia Chabon, Samantha Dizon, Mikha Fortuna, and Mafy Singson.
