5 Running Tips For Every Juan With A Packed Schedule

In a country where work, commute, and family life can take up most of your day, it’s no surprise that many Filipinos feel too busy to exercise. But let us tell you: you don’t need a lot of time to start! We’ve compiled 5 running tips to fit into your daily routine—all without sacrificing work, family, or rest.

1. Start small.

One of the simplest running tips is that you don’t need 1 hour to feel its benefits. Just a quick 10-15 minute jog around your street or subdivision is a good start. You can run either in the morning before work, in the late afternoon to avoid heat and enjoy the sunset, or in the evening after dinner.

When running, be consistent. Because when you’ve built momentum, you can then increase your time and distance.

2. Turn waiting time into moving time.

Do you have a long break at work? If you’re a parent, are you waiting for your child’s dismissal time? Why not walk or jog to kill time?

Aptly called micro-runs, these last around 5 to 15 minutes and are done whenever you have a small pocket of time. From strolls to snack runs, these can accumulate and provide energy and activity without requiring a dedicated workout.

3. Use running as your “me time.”

For many of us, running becomes our quiet moment: a time to breathe, think, or even pray. It becomes a form of self-care that doesn’t require a spa or vacation.

Even a simple 20-minute movement can already help clear your mind and provide a sense of calm and accomplishment that carries throughout the day.

4. Run on errands…literally!

In the second of two micro-running tips, you can do so while on an errand! If you need to buy something from the sari-sari store or pick up an item nearby, try running or jogging your way there. It’s a small way to stay active while doing what you need to do.

5. Schedule your runs.

Schedule your runs like a meeting by adding them to your calendar. This proactive approach turns running into a consistent part of your routine rather than an option.

Running doesn’t require the “perfect” schedule. You just need to be creative and commit. So even with a packed schedule, let these 5 running tips get you started.
