Robert Bolick Gives Kobe Bryant a 50-Point Birthday Gift

What’s the best way to celebrate the 40th birthday of one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history a.k.a. “Mamba Day?” For Robert Bolick, the answer was simple: it’s exploding for 50 points and getting a win for his team.

After losing to the Lyceum Pirates 73-66, the San Beda Red Lions were eager to bounce back against Arellano University. The Chiefs, however, were toe-to-toe with the Red Lions in the first 25 minutes of the game.

It was in the third quarter when Robert Bolick took over the game. He scored 18 points in the period and 19 points in the final quarter, helping the Red Lions cruise to an easy win. His output in the second half was two points shy of the total points of Arellano as a team.

After the game, Bolick admitted that the loss to Lyceum gave him extra motivation.

“We just came from a loss. Everybody doubted us, especially me. We’re far from over. One defeat lang, I’m a competitor. I don’t want to lose,” said Bolick.

He also gave a shoutout to Kobe Bryant who turned 40 years old on Thursday.

“It’s Mamba Day kahapon. Everybody loves Kobe,” he said.
