Kevin Tan, CEO of Alliance Global Group, Inc. (AGI), is steering the company towards new heights with a focus on nation-building and innovation. Under his leadership, AGI has grown in real estate, food and beverage, and tourism.

Expansion and Achievements

AGI, originally a glass container manufacturer, became a holding company in 1999. Today, its subsidiaries include Emperador, Megaworld, and Travellers International Hotel Group. Under Tan’s leadership, AGI has developed 31 townships across the country, surpassing their goal of 20 by 2025. With four more townships planned, AGI is redefining urban living with its work-live-play-learn concept.

Real Estate Innovations

One notable project is the “workcation” township in Mactan, Cebu. This mixes business with leisure in a resort-themed setting. It includes eight office buildings, nine residential towers, and two hotels. Kevin Tan plans to expand AGI’s office space to 2 million sqm and mall space to 1 million sqm by 2030, using the REIT law to attract investors.

“Most businesses came from resorts, except a small industrial park. However, we decided to introduce a business district as well. People were calling us crazy then since business is very centered in Cebu City. But we decided to take a risk. We wanted to introduce a new lifestyle where you mix work-life balance with the workcation concept.” Tan says.

Focus on Tourism and Infrastructure

AGI’s flagship project, Newport World Resorts (NWR), shows its commitment to tourism and infrastructure. Located near Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, NWR includes seven hotel brands, a large convention center, and the award-winning Newport Performing Arts Theater. AGI plans to double its investments in tourism, with major renovations and new upscale suites in Marriott Hotel Manila and Hotel Okura Manila.
