Enhanced Community Quarantine – Stories of Support and Hope

The secret to surviving this “Enhanced Community Quarantine” is already in its name: enhanced community.

The Bayanihan Spirit is already in full gear in these first few days of quarantine. In the midst of all the adjustments and new regulations from the government, stories of hope and support have been proliferating. We are reminded of what we already know: that we need to be one enhanced community to lift each other up.

Here are a few stories that caught our attention these past few days. Hopefully, the good news doesn’t stop!

Stories from the front lines

Our doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers are our heroes at the front lines. As early as Monday, stories like this have shown that Filipinos are stepping up to rise to the challenge of this pandemic:

The said interns have shown a selfless commitment to serving the public, going above and beyond what is required of them. In these trying times, these heroes serve as an inspiration to all.

As we have seen, many immediately responded, as stories of food donations and well-wishes flooded social media. These provide much needed relief for our medical workers.

All hands are on deck for the implementation of the quarantine. The police and military are deployed all over Luzon to remind people to stay at home, and contain the quarantine from spreading. Communities have also been expressing their support for our tireless heroes by providing a brief respite from the duties.

Quick action from the public and private sectors

In such a short time, President Duterte has implemented the Enhanced Community Quarantine for the entire Luzon. He would not have been able to pull it of without the help of LGUs and other government agencies and officials.

Access to food is a concern, and some did hoard supplies during the first day of the quarantine. In order to allay fears, the public and private sectors have been constantly working together to ensure that supplies are accessible to everyone.

Here’s an example of good coordination to fully implement the anti-hoarding ordinance of an LGU:

Although everyday is a challenge on all fronts and aspects of this quarantine, many more instances are showing and proving that we are on top of the situation.

Donations flooding in

Aside from LGUs, a lot of our government officials are also providing donations to support our men and women on the front lines. Here’s Senator Manny Pacquiao’s donations of personal protective equipment, to ensure the safety and protection of all our deployed personnel:

No matter how big or small the donation is, we all can do our part to provide support for each other during this time.

Here’s a private individual donating not only his resources but his time as well:

Even the country’s big conglomerates are pouring in resources to support our countrymen. Everyone is doing their part.

Uncertainty fills the next coming weeks as we deal with this pandemic. However, one thing is certain – we have each other’s backs. And that certainly brings us some peace of mind. Please stay at home, everyone.
