DPWH: Widening Project of Looc Bridge in Biliran Now Underway

Good news, Biliran! The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently announced that the widening project of the 24-meter Looc Bridge is now ongoing.

The construction of the bridge, which can be found along Biliran Circumferential Road in Almeria, Biliran, will primarily revolve around the addition of two lanes. One each on both sides of Looc bridge with a width of 3.66 meters. This is according to Biliran District Engineer David Adongay Jr.

The project will cost P21.9 million.

Adongay also added that as of now, the contractor who’s handling the project is now clearing the construction site and has mobilized the needed equipment and materials.

Once completed, the four-lane Looc bridge will complement two other road projects: the already-widened approach of road opening to Kawayan, Biliran as well as the widening of national roads in the province.

“DPWH is expecting to provide safer roads and better travel experience for at least 5,000 motorists traversing the Biliran Circumferential Road with the completion of the project in January 2019,” said Adongay.

Under the current administration’s “Build, Build, Build” program, the province of Biliran can expect more projects with its P1.8-billion infrastructure funds for 2018.
