Davao Tourism on the Rise

BOGART isn’t the only explorer from Davao. A tourism leader has observed in recent years that Dabawenyos have become more active in travelling both locally and internationally.

“As a travel agent, I can easily say that tourism in Davao City is growing as people have the money to purchase packages and people can afford to travel outside Davao and Philippines,” said Corazon Capitan, President of the National Association of Independent Travel Agents (Naitas) Davao Chapter.

At the sidelines of the opening of the Naitas Travel Fair and Trade Show at the Abreeza Mall, Davao City, Capitan added that lower airfares and good tourism packages offered by travel agents and tour operators are the main reasons why Dabawenyos can now afford to travel more.

Capitan also mentioned that based on their observations, Hong Kong and Singapore are the top foreign destinations for Dabawenyos. For domestic traveling, the top destination is Palawan.

The Naitas Travel Fair and Trade Show is now on its 5th year. The event highlights ASEAN tour packages and local destinations. Discounted airfares and tour packages will also be offered to Dabawenyos.
