Davao Hotel Lauded for Offering OJT Program for People with Special Needs

We are still weeks away from Christmas day, but this piece of news from Davao already has us feeling warm and fuzzy.

A hotel in Davao is being lauded by social media users for opening an on-the-job (OJT) training program for people with special needs.

This initiative by the Green Windows Dormitel has been made possible with the help of the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines – Davao.

Inclusive development

“Development comes with inclusion,” that’s what people from Green Window Dormitel have realized, according to Sales and Marketing Head Pio Sto. Domingo. It’s also the reason why they have felt the urge to provide opportunities for people with down syndrome to work by giving them training.

Just recently, the hotel uploaded photos of their new on-the-job trainees on their Facebook account and even mentioned that on Friday, November 16 is the on-the-job trainees’ graduation day.

The post received positive comments from social media users, as many hoped that this initiative would be replicated by other companies.

Below are some of the comments:

“Let’s empower them! Let them feel the essence of equality.”

“Thank you and may God bless you more.”

As of writing, the Facebook post has garnered over 13,000 likes and almost 12,000 shares.
