Cebu schoool to represent PH in int’l robotics olympiad

The Marie Ernestine School (MES), a private educational institution from Cebu, is set to represent the country in the annual World Robotics Olympiad (WRO).

The MES team was chosen as the Philippine representative after garnering most of the awards during the 17th Philippine Robotics Olympiad last August 2018 in Manila, where they beat more than a hundred schools from all over the country. The MES emerged as champions in the Elementary and Junior High categories, and landed second place in the Senior High category.

MES School director Marie Ernestine Denise Fajatin said that they are very proud to represent the country at the WRO. “This is our seventh try and ever since we joined in the Philippine Robotics Olympiad, we have consistently been able to compete in the world stage,” she adds.

The WRO is an annual competition that aims to develop the creativity and problem-solving skills of young people all over the world by bringing them together to compete in the field of robotics.

MES will be competing with other countries in this year’s WRO on November 16 to 18 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This year’s theme is “Food Matters”, and the competition focuses on food growing, sharing, and consumption. For this year, the competition aims to promote the use of technology to improve the quality and increase the output of the production of food, as well as reducing waste.

The Marie Ernestine School was founded in 1976 and offers pre-school, primary, and secondary training, with campuses in Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu and Budlaan, Talamban.
