Mega Manila Subway breaking ground in 2018

The first phase of the Metro Manila Subway Project started rolling last March, as the P51.3-billion loan agreement from Japan had been signed.

This is the very first subway in Mega Manila, so it is only fitting to be among the highlights of President Rodrigo Duterte’s “Build, Build, Build” program.

The subway system is expected to bring relief to millions of commuters who deserve better and more efficient public transportation in the country. It is estimated that the subway can serve around 370,000 passengers per day in its opening year.

The project is expected to be partially operational by 2020 and fully operational by 2025. The 30-kilometer underground railway will run from Mindanao Avenue in the north and end at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport complex, with 14 stations in total.

Meanwhile, the second phase of the subway project envisions a railway system involving the North (Bulacan) and South (Cavite) Zones.
